Should I upgrade my firmware?

I just received a new APU2E4 board from PCEngines today. I discovered that it has Coreboot from 20170228 and SeaBIOS rel.1.10.0.1, so I am wondering if it would be advisable to update this to the latest firmware? Should I use 4.16.0.1, and is it as simple as this?

Install TinyCore to a USB stick
Copy the .rom file to the USB stick
Boot from the USB stick

Hello beneix ,

In general, you should not need to update your firmware unless you are having a specific problem that a newer version fixes. That being said, newer firmware versions add various features, bug fixes and performance improvements. You can see the changelog for the firmware here: https://pcengines.github.io/

I've had good success from using the 'flashrom' upgrade procedure inside Linux. A hard reset is required (there are ways to fake a hard-enough reset if physical access isn't possible but I've not tried them).
